More Information about Commerce City

Commerce City began as a trading post and ranch that provided food to gold seekers following the South Platte River Trail around 1859. Since then, the city has reinvented itself several times over the years into the centrally located and fastest growing community that is now a working mix of residential and industrial.

This tight-knit community north of Denver is home to one of the largest soccer complexes in the United States and the largest urban wildlife refuge in the nation. The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is made up of 15,000 acres roamed by everything from bison to mule deer, while the skies above are patrolled by bald eagles. It also houses the largest oil refinery in the Rocky Mountain region, since Suncor acquired and merged with the ConocoPhillips facility in 2003.

Enjoy the 840 acres of open space, some of which contain the only short grass prairies still in existence today, or play 18 holes at the championship Buffalo Run Golf Course. Commerce City is a wonderful urban town that has found the formula to successfully blending living, working and playing into one community.
